About Me

Picture
I am a fully trained psychotherapist and counsellor, with a particular interest in attachment, relationships and loss. My therapeutic approach is based on Transactional Analysis (TA). 

My early career was spent in caring professions in the NHS, social services and the voluntary sector. Over the last 25 years I have worked in Higher Education lecturing in developmental psychology, gaining a broad range of experience of working with students, teachers, tutors and lecturers. 

I am a member of all relevant organisations and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Psychotherapy 
  • Certified Transactional Analyst from the European Association of Transactional Analysis 
  • Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute
  • Diploma in Supervision
  • Diploma in Couples Counselling
  • B. Humanities in Education (Hons)
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Health Education 
  • Mental Health First Aider England instructor

Areas of specialism

I specialise in:
  • concerns relating to attachment, bereavement and loss
  • family issues including separation, divorce, affairs and betrayals
  • managing transitions such as redundancy, retirement and changes in family structure. 

I work with people with moderate mental health disorders and can work with other clinical staff in managing and coping with both the symptoms and the underlying cause(s).

I also work with clients who have experience of abuse, particularly historic sexual abuse.
