It’s good to talk when life seems difficult. Whether it’s one specific problem or many, or you’re simply feeling overwhelmed, counselling and/or psychotherapy can provide an effective route to making a positive change in your life.
As a fully trained and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist working with individuals and couples, and as a clinical supervisor, I can help you explore your life and relationships in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space, and make better sense of your world. Using my years of experience within higher education, I can also offer group training and supervision for educators on mental health and tutoring support if you find studying difficult.
Who do I work with?I provide counselling and psychotherapy for adults and young people over 16, either individually, as couples or in groups. Together, we can explore a broad range of areas such as worry and anxiety, sadness and depression, and feelings of confusion, shame, anger or guilt.
I specialise in concerns relating to attachment, bereavement and loss. These include family issues such as separation, divorce, affairs, betrayals and changes in family structure, and managing transitions, for example redundancy and retirement. I usually work face-to-face or online or over the phone. I also offer workplace counselling and a range of training and tutoring options, including NHS England Mental Health First Aid training for schools, colleges and youth organisations. Is this right for you?Opting for counselling and/or psychotherapy can be a tough decision. And then choosing a therapist can be bewildering.
It is important to find a counsellor/psychotherapist who appreciates this and who you can work with, as your relationship with them is the most important factor in determining the success of any therapy. That’s why I offer a free initial half hour assessment, during which we can explore your needs and you can assess whether you feel comfortable talking with me. I work mainly from a relaxed, informal setting in Kingston-upon-Thames, although I may be able to offer support at other locations or online. Wherever and however we meet, I will help you make better sense of your experiences, unfulfilling behaviours, negative thoughts, and confused feelings and emotions. Together we can recognise patterns, discover meanings and explore options for a better future.
