I am a fully trained psychotherapist and counsellor working in south-west London and Surrey. My practice is within easy reach of Kingston, New Malden, Wimbledon, Coombe, Norbiton, Richmond, Twickenham, Teddington and Worcester Park, and surrounding areas.
I usually work with clients face to face, and it is easy to travel to my practice by car or public transport. Alternatively, we can arrange sessions via telephone or online.
Many people prefer to see me alone to preserve their privacy and concentrate on their own feelings. Alternatively, you can join one of my counselling groups. Going to a group counselling session can be helpful if you want to discuss your issues with people who are going through similar problems and may offer the additional benefit of providing a support network, depending on the dynamics of the group.
How we can work together
Face-to-face Most clients make an appointment to see me in person, usually at my practice. Face-to-face sessions are one of the more popular therapy formats because they provide an opportunity for you to react to any emotions that arise there and then.
Telephone counselling For some, telephone counselling offers a useful alternative to face-to-face counselling. It can be particularly useful for carers and those with a physical disability who can’t get to a practice.
Online counselling For people who prefer to use online options, I work on Zoom, Teams or WhatsApp. This is an effective option for people who have to work away from home sometimes or who have childcare commitments. The online option is particularly useful for couples work for those with young children, so that you can access couples counselling without additional childcare costs.
Most clients have one session a week, but there’s no way to predict exactly how many weeks or months we will work together as that depends on your current situation and what you want to achieve.
After our exploratory meeting, we’ll start with 6 weeks of initial sessions. We’ll then agree a contract that includes how many weeks we’ll work together before the next review, the fees for the next sessions and other aspects of how we’ll work together.
Fees and contract
The first short exploratory (assessment) session is free, so that you have the chance to decide whether you think we will work well together. A fee is then payable prior to every subsequent session.
During the assessment session we will agree the fees and when and where we will meet for an initial 4 weeks. We then agree a new contract for a further set of sessions as appropriate, typically for a longer period. At this stage we may add details of a goal or goals that you want to work towards, if appropriate, or leave the contract open-ended.
Most of my face-to-face sessions are held at my own practice in the Kingston area. This is within walking distance of Norbiton station on the National Rail line from London Waterloo or Richmond, and close to a number of regular bus services.
